Powering Arkansas with Clean, Affordable Energy

Since 2017, Energy Future Arkansas has helped thousands of families and businesses take control of their energy costs through solar power, battery storage, and efficiency upgrades.

Built on a Mission to Make Clean Energy Accessible

In the summer of 2016, Marcus Caldwell was working as a utility engineer for one of Arkansas's largest power companies when a routine service call changed his perspective forever. He visited a neighborhood in Pine Bluff where three elderly residents on the same block were each spending over $400 per month on electricity during the peak summer months. Their aging homes had minimal insulation, outdated HVAC systems, and no access to any energy efficiency programs. These were families on fixed incomes who had to choose between cooling their homes and buying groceries.

That evening, Marcus came home and told his wife Sarah about what he had seen. Sarah, who had just completed her MBA with a concentration in sustainable business at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock, had been researching the declining cost of solar panels and the growing gap between utility rates and renewable energy prices in the South. Together, they realized that Arkansas families were being left behind in the clean energy transition that was already transforming states like Texas and North Carolina.

By early 2017, both Marcus and Sarah had earned their NABCEP certifications, and Energy Future Arkansas officially opened its doors at a small office on Kavanaugh Boulevard in Little Rock. Their first installation was a 5.4kW system for a retired schoolteacher in Maumelle who had been paying $280 per month to Entergy. Within a year, word of mouth had brought them more projects than they could handle, and they hired their first crew of three installers.

Today, Energy Future Arkansas employs over 40 people, has completed more than 2,500 installations across all 75 Arkansas counties, and remains guided by the same principle that started it all: every Arkansas family deserves access to affordable, reliable, clean energy.

Milestones That Define Our Growth

From a two-person startup to Arkansas's most trusted renewable energy company, every milestone represents real families and businesses we have helped along the way.

2017

Founded in Little Rock

Marcus and Sarah Caldwell launched Energy Future Arkansas from a small office on Kavanaugh Boulevard, completing their first residential solar installation in Maumelle. The company began with just two NABCEP-certified founders and a commitment to making clean energy accessible to every Arkansas family.

2018

100th Installation Completed

In just over a year of operation, the team reached 100 completed solar installations across Central Arkansas. This milestone came with the hiring of our first dedicated installation crew and the opening of a proper warehouse facility to stock panels, inverters, and racking equipment.

2019

Commercial Division Launched

Recognizing the growing demand from Arkansas businesses, we established a dedicated commercial solar division. Our first major commercial project was a 150kW rooftop system for a manufacturing facility in North Little Rock that reduced their energy costs by 62 percent annually.

2020

Battery Storage Partnerships

We partnered with leading battery manufacturers including Tesla and Enphase to offer integrated solar-plus-storage systems. This allowed our customers to achieve true energy independence with backup power during outages and the ability to store excess solar production for evening use.

2022

Statewide Expansion

After establishing strong roots in Central Arkansas, we expanded operations to serve all 75 counties statewide. Regional teams were deployed in Northwest Arkansas, Northeast Arkansas, and Southern Arkansas, bringing our installation expertise to communities from Bentonville to Texarkana.

2024

2,500th Installation

We celebrated our 2,500th completed installation with a community solar event in Hot Springs. By this point, our combined installations were generating over 18 megawatts of clean energy annually, preventing an estimated 14,000 metric tons of carbon dioxide emissions each year.

Our Core Values

These four principles guide every decision we make, from the products we recommend to how we treat our customers and team members.

🌿

Sustainability

We are committed to reducing Arkansas's carbon footprint one installation at a time. Every system we design maximizes clean energy production while minimizing environmental impact during manufacturing and installation.

🤝

Integrity

We provide honest assessments, transparent pricing, and realistic production estimates. If solar is not the right fit for your home or business, we will tell you directly and suggest alternatives that will actually save you money.

💡

Innovation

We continuously invest in the latest solar technology, battery storage solutions, and monitoring systems. Our engineering team evaluates new products quarterly to ensure our customers always receive the most efficient and reliable equipment available.

🏡
